India Post Merit List Out
The long-awaited news is finally here! The Department of Posts has officially released the India Post GDS 1st Merit List 2026 today, March 6, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 28,636 vacancies for the positions of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) across 23 postal circles.
Since the selection is purely based on Class 10 merit, there were no written exams, making this one of the most anticipated results for students across the country.

How to Check Your Name in the GDS Merit List
Follow these simple steps to verify your selection:
- Visit the official portal: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
- Navigate to the "Candidate's Corner" on the homepage.
- Click on the link titled "Shortlisted Candidates: Schedule-1, January-2026".
- Select your respective State/Circle.
- A PDF file will download. Open it and use Ctrl + F to search for your Registration Number or Name.
Document Verification (DV)
- If your name appears on the list, congratulations! You have been provisionally shortlisted for the next stage. Here is what you need to do now:
- Deadline: You must report for physical document verification (DV) within 15 days of the result declaration (by March 23, 2026).
- Required Documents: Original 10th Standard Marksheet & Pass Certificate.
- Caste/Community Certificate (if applicable).
- Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, etc.).
- Medical Certificate from a government medical officer.
- Passport-size photographs.
