1. Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination 2026. This recruitment aims to fill 349 Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer positions across India's elite paramilitary forces.

2. Vacancy Distribution

Vacancies are distributed among five major security forces:

  • BSF (Border Security Force): 108
  • CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force): 106
  • CISF (Central Industrial Security Force): 70
  • SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal): 53
  • ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police): 12
  • Total: 349 (10% reserved for Ex-servicemen)


3. Selection Process

Candidates must clear three distinct stages to be recommended for appointment:

  1. Written Examination (450 Marks):

  • Paper I: General Ability & Intelligence (250 Marks, Objective).
  • Paper II: General Studies, Essay & Comprehension (200 Marks, Descriptive).

  1. Physical & Medical Standards Tests:

  • Includes a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) featuring a 100m race, 800m race, Long Jump, and Shot Put (Men only).

  1. Interview / Personality Test (150 Marks):

  • Conducted by the UPSC board to assess leadership and mental caliber.

5. Required Documents

6. How to Apply

  1. OTR Registration: Visit upsconline.nic.in and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already done.
  2. Login: Use your OTR ID/Email and Password to log in.
  3. Apply: Click on the "Latest Notification" tab and select CAPF (ACs) Exam 2026.
  4. Fill Details: Complete Part-I (Registration) and Part-II (Payment, Center Choice, and Document Upload).
  5. Submit: Verify all details and submit the application. Download the confirmation page for your records.
